Here's a top tip: As the weather cools, so does your body. One of the best ways to prepare your skin for this drop in temperature—particularly your scalp—is to..
Did you know that hikers apply rubbing alcohol to their feet and guitar players to their fingers, to harden their skin? What a great idea if it makes hiking and guitar playing easier!
I’m not convinced; however, that the benefits have the same value when applied to the face. Sure, as a last resort it can disinfect a cut, but there are so many less painful options… right?
Effects of alcohol on the face can include:
- Painful burning
- Darkened skin
Warm water is the perfect temperature to get the closest most comfortable shave and here's why!
Water, breaks down the hydrogen bonds that keep hair firm, therefore making the hair follicles fragile or weak and much easier to cut. Warm water activates

- Choose your favorite face wash to create a clean surface to aid in softening the hairs, while further reducing the chances of skin irritation from excess oil and dirt.
Razor burn... Just saying the words make me angry! Why? Because it should never happen to me or anyone else.
We should all hate it. The redness, burning, itching, over-sensitivity... these are all symptoms. And the worst part is that these symptoms can lead to more visible frustration, razor bumps!
How you get it and its severity depends on many reasons (will discuss below). But the bottom line is, it ranges from person to person and I promise... if you haven't already experienced it, you don't ever want to!

- Your blade dulls after one shave…a bit pricey huh?

How many of you remember those long days of trying to ignore how itchy your face felt in the beginning? Well, it's safe to say that if you want to grow a beard you'll get this itch, at some point.
Cold weather can wreak havoc on your skin. Especially, for parts of the skin that are shaved several times a week or for some, every day. A freshly shaved face is already more susceptible to being dry, sensitive and irritated. And can be no match for what these cold winter months can bring with them. Unless, of course, you come prepared to fight a battle your face can truly win.
Here are several tried-and-true steps:
A good shave can reveal a lot. A clean face, the shape of your jaw… and for some darkened skin. If you have noticed darker skin on your face from shaving it isn't just the lighting… it is indeed a "real thing" that may actually be happening to you!
Let's start with WHY it's happening:
The aggressive nature of shaving, whether it's with a razor or...
