Winter Shaving 101: How to Avoid Dry Skin and Irritation

Winter weather can wreak havoc on your skin especially if you're someone who shaves frequently. Already more susceptible to being dry, sensitive and irritated, a freshly shaved face is no-match for what these cold months can bring. Unless, of course, you come prepared to fight a battle your face can truly win.

Here are a few tried-and-true tips to make sure your face remains healthy-looking in appearance all winter as it does in the spring!

Shave Where It Matters

You know, there has been more than a few times that I've had guys in my barber chair that have complained about shaving irritation in areas where they have no hair... upper cheeks, behind the earlobe, and sometimes two or maybe three inches below the Adam's apple. How To Stop Razor Burn For Good! - Burke Avenue by Craig the Barber

Stop Razor Burn For Good

Razor burn... Just saying the words make me angry! Why? Because it should never happen to me or anyone else.

We should all hate it. The redness, burning, itching, over-sensitivity... these are all symptoms. And the worst part is that these symptoms can lead to more visible frustration, razor bumps!

How you get it and its severity depends on many reasons (will discuss below). But the bottom line is, it ranges from person to person and I promise... if you haven't already experienced it, you don't ever want to!

Here are a few reasons why:

  • Blade/s too sharp
  • Blade/s too dull

With the bulk of our activities being done in cooler places, our skin’s normal perspiration practice (which naturally moisturizes our skin) become less important. The long term effects of this can quickly make your skin appear older, shaving more painful and if not consistently used, your moisturizer less effective.

Here are a few suggestions that can help! .
